Search Workshop Comments
These comments are incomplete. They refer to the group assigned
to evaluate various web search sites for finding educational material.
They are taken from my sketchy notes of the conference
presentations. I'm hoping for more complete notes from the group's facilitator.
- There were differences in terms of which search sites were easiest
to use (excite and hotbot where easiest to use).
- The overall impression generated within the group was that there was
a great deal of material out on the web and that finding it is not all
that hard.
- Some sites may request that "plug-ins" and "helpers"
be"downloaded". In most cases there is not reason to fear doing
this and it is always safe to do on a public room computer (although there
is no garuntee it will work).
